This is the incredibly talented Justin Sanchez.  He was at ArtWalk last weekend demonstrating the process of glass blown art.  It is exciting to watch him create such beautiful pieces from glass and fire.  We are selling gorgeous pendants, drink stirrers and sweet little hand blown jars.  Come by and check them out!

One of my favorite artists/people is Kai.  He visits us at the shop and drinks all of our coffee.  He uses found objects to create art with a welding machine and blow torch.  To say he is an interesting character would be an understatement.  The picture above is a lobster made from ceiling fan parts and a Christmas tin he swiped from me.    He is currently working on something he describes as a turbine.  It has a motor.  If he doesn’t lose any fingers while creating it, I’ll post pics when it is completed.  This is his bio:

Kai Urushihara

Height: 5ft 7in

Weight: 165 lbs.

Class: Warrior/Scientist

Occupation: Unemployed

Hobbies: Welding, Farming, Human History, Philosophy, Potato Mongering, Cooking

Kai likes to work with metal because metal is tough and forgiving.  If the metal is in a shape he doesn’t like, he just bashes it with a rock until he likes it.

Kai is described by many as an enigma.  He is also an egomaniac:  He wrote this bio while pretending to be someone else!

Likes: Seafood, coffee, potatoes, explosions

Dislikes:  Spicy food, things-that-kill-me, Floors

This piece that Darren is wearing is made from an old water heater.  It’s so heavy, Darren was actually 4 inches shorter when he took it off.  True story…
